Privacy Policy
Effective October 1, 2026
BYTHERIM is an independent basketball site. This page explains what information the site collects, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: you can use almost all of BYTHERIM without an account, we don't sell anything about you, and we don't run ads.
What we collect
If you sign in with Google
Signing in is optional. It's only used to save your BYTHERIM RP progress and draft boards to your account so they follow you across devices. When you sign in, Google shares your name, email address and profile photo with us through Firebase Authentication, a Google service. We store:
- your name and email address, linked to an account ID;
- your saved NCAA RP universe and your draft boards.
Site administrators are listed by email address so the site knows who may publish official content.
Usage statistics
To understand how the site is used, BYTHERIM counts page views and a handful of actions (for example, starting a new RP save or simulating a week). These are stored only as daily totals, such as "120 views of the Draft page today." No name, email, IP address or account ID is attached to them. To count visitors without double-counting, your browser remembers on your own device whether it has already been counted that day; that note never leaves your browser. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, nothing is counted.
Stored on your device
The site keeps some things in your browser's local storage so it works the way you left it: your light/dark theme, settings, and your RP saves (which live in your browser unless you sign in and save them to your account). This information stays on your device. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.
Server logs
BYTHERIM is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub may log your IP address and browser details when you load a page, for security and operations. See GitHub's privacy statement.
Content from other services
Some pages show content loaded from other companies, which may collect information under their own privacy policies when that content loads:
- Embedded posts and players from YouTube (privacy-enhanced mode), X, Instagram, TikTok, Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Substack;
- Google: Firebase (sign-in and saves), Google Sheets (where the site's rankings and rosters are kept) and Google Fonts;
- rss2json, which reads the public Substack and podcast feeds;
- public code libraries served from jsDelivr, unpkg and cdnjs.
Links to other sites are not covered by this policy.
How we use it
Only to run the site: keeping you signed in, storing and restoring your saves and boards, letting administrators publish content, and seeing which parts of the site people use so we can improve them. We don't sell or rent personal information, don't use it for advertising, and don't share it except with the service providers above that host and run the site, or when required by law.
Keeping and deleting your information
Account data stays until you ask us to delete it. To have your account, saves and boards deleted, contact us (below) from the email address you signed in with, and we'll remove them. You can sign out at any time from the account menu, and you can clear the site's data from your browser settings.
Children
BYTHERIM is a general-audience basketball site and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal information, and to object to how it's used. Contact us to make a request.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
