Why I built BYTHERIM

I'm Collin Butrlakorn. BYTHERIM is my corner of basketball: a place to talk about the game the way people who love it actually talk about it.

My story

Basketball first, always

I've been obsessed with basketball for as long as I can remember. Not just the games, but everything around them: the draft, the trades, the film, the arguments with friends about who's actually good.

I got to play it in college, too, until injuries ended my career earlier than I wanted. Writing about the game became my way to stay close to it. What started as blogging turned into scouting reports, a big board, and eventually a podcast.

The more time I spent around basketball media, the more it wore on me. So much of it runs on bad-faith takes and manufactured drama, and it's easy to forget why any of us started watching. Kenny Beecham and the Enjoy Basketball crew reminded me there's another way to do this: loving the sport out loud, and bringing people in instead of picking fights.

That's what BYTHERIM is. I'm not here to reinvent basketball research. I want a comfortable place to talk hoops and learn something, whether you've been watching film for years or you just got into the league last season, without the toxicity that comes with most sports discourse.

And because I've spent more hours in 2K than I'd like to admit, there's the BYTHERIM RP too: a full college basketball universe with recruiting, a simulated season and its own NBA draft, built for everyone who's been craving that kind of role-play experience.
